The School of Foreign Studies, Xi'an University of Finance and Economics visited our school for a research symposium

At 4:00 PM on November 7, 2025, a 12-member delegation led by Hao Xinjun, Director of the Office of Scientific Research at Xi'an University of Finance and Economics, and Yang Xianping, Dean of the School of Foreign Studies, visited our school for a research symposium. The meeting was held in the school conference room and was chaired by our Dean, Cao Ruonan. Attendees included Associate Dean of Teaching Li Ming, Professor Tian Jin from the Postgraduate Education and Research Department, English Department Director Li Tie, Li Yan, Director of the Second College English Teaching and Research Office, Assistant Dean Xu Na, and Research Secretary Li Zhaoyan.

 At the beginning of the symposium, Dean Cao Ruonan extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the School of Foreign Studies of Xi'an University of Finance and Economics. Subsequently, the deans from both sides introduced their respective attendees and provided an overview of their universities’ development. Director Hao Xinjun highlighted the progress in research construction at the School of Foreign Studies of Xi'an University of Finance and Economics, mentioning practical measures such as recruiting young talents to strengthen the faculty and continuously enhancing research capabilities. He emphasized that inter-university and inter-school communication is a crucial driving force for disciplinary development, setting a pragmatic tone for the exchange.

 During the symposium, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions centered around four core topics.Regarding the cultivation of graduate students in English translation, Dean Cao Ruonan addressed the common challenge of homogenization by introducing our school’s training system, which focuses on “process management + quality control + practical teaching.” She proposed a differentiated development path of “leveraging the university’s platform and emphasizing practical characteristics.” Professor Tian Jin, drawing on years of teaching and research experience, emphasized the critical role of supervisors in academic guidance and capacity building. Director Li Tie systematically elaborated on the school’s educational philosophy from three dimensions: top-level design, supervisor empowerment, and personalized development. In the field of Country and Region Studies, Dean Cao Ruonan highlighted that this discipline serves as an important window for foreign language studies to contribute to national strategies. By leveraging the university’s strengths in related disciplines, our school has deepened disciplinary understanding and promoted research implementation through academic seminars and specialized lectures. Professor Li Tie shared her practical experience in transitioning from traditional language and literature research to Country and Region Studies, offering valuable insights for both sides. Regarding curriculum development and teaching and research achievements, Research Secretary Li Chaoyan provided a detailed overview of our school’s notable accomplishments in recent years, including applications for high-level projects, publications in core journals, releases of monographs and translations, and recognitions in teaching achievement awards. On the topic of University English Studies, Associate Dean of Teaching Li Ming outlined the evolution and key initiatives of our school’s reforms since 2017. Li Yan and Xu Na supplemented the discussion by sharing innovative approaches in course design and teaching practice based on their own instructional experiences.

 The symposium lasted for over two hours and was conducted in a warm and in-depth atmosphere throughout. It not only facilitated the precise sharing of educational management experience but also yielded multiple consensus on core issues. Both sides unanimously agreed that the symposium established an efficient and practical communication bridge, laying a solid foundation for sustained future collaboration and mutual support. They expressed anticipation for further strengthening ties and working together to promote the high-quality development of foreign language disciplines.
